What is HPLC -HB Electrophoresis?

Haemoglobin, as we all know it, is the protein that is found in our red blood cells; its function is the transportation of oxygen to the organs and tissues of the body.

Precautions:

• Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease cannot be prevented but there are many measures to manage the symptoms and avoid complications of the disease.
• In case of Thalassemia, avoid a diet with high iron content as it can interfere with the blood transfusion.
• In case of Sickle Cell Disease, one can manage it by taking folic acid supplements, mild exercise, no smoking, enough water, basically have a healthy lifestyle and do as the doctors prescribe.
